The Artist's Colourmen's Story

The Artist's Colourmen's Story

03b
Guidebook to the Winsor & Newton Artist Colourmen’s Museum opened in 1982. It traces the history of the artist’s colourmen’s trade in London mainly through two family businesses, Reeves & Sons, established 1766, and Winsor & Newton in 1832. It shows the development of many artist's and designer’s media and implements, from the pig's bladders that preceded tubes of oil paints and the first little china pans of watercolour.
